This is a used Colnago Master road bike in good condition. I have both this bike and an Eddy Merckx Ti bike and, since I do not need both, decided to sell the Colnago (see comparison at end of listing below). In the early 1980’s Colnago began experimenting with crimping main frame tubes to increase stiffness. In the mid 1980’s, Colnago and Gilberto Columbus developed the Gilco Master tube profile which was a round tube that featured four distinct symmetrical flutes through the central section of the tube and resembled a 4-sided star. This tubing was used to build a new bicycle simply called the Colnago Master. The Gilco Master tube profile outlasted all other Colnago tube designs and you could still order a modern Master steel frameset in 2019. As near as I can date this model, it is late 90’s to early 2000s. The DA components were available 1996 through 2003. It is in good mechanical condition. There are several rubs and nicks typical of a bike this age; there are no dents in the tubes. Specifications: Size: Large; 57 cm (center of cranks to top of seat tube); 56 cm (center cranks to center of top tube); Top Tube Approx 55.5 cm (c-c); Stand Over Height is 31 1/2”. Frame: Colnago Columbus Gilco fluted (three main tubes) steel. Fork: Colnago straight chromed Headset: Campagnolo Stem: Ritchey Pro Handlebars: ITM Milennium 7075 Ultra-Lite Brakes Levers: Dura Ace 7700 Brakes: Shimano Dura Ace 7700 dual pivot side pull Shifters: Dura Ace ST-7700C 9 speed Bottom Bracket: Shimano Crankset: Shimano Ultegra FC-R8000, 50/34 chainrings, 170 mm arms Pedals: not included Front Derailleur: Shimano DA 7700 Rear Derailleur: Shimano DA 7700 Cassette: Shimano Ultegra 6500; 11-25 teeth, 9 speed Seatpost: Oval Alloy Saddle: Selle Italia Flite Water Bottle Cages: 2 - carbon Hubs: Velomax Rims: Velomax Circuit, presta valves Tires: Origin 8 Squall; 700x23 Note: These wheels are not the original wheels for this bike. I have the following which were the original wheels and can substitute them for those currently on the bike if desired by the buyer: Dura Ace hubs; Dura Ace QRs; Mavic Reflex Sup rims.
Please ask questions before bidding. Comparison: Colnago vs Merckx Weight: Colnago is about one pound lighter (at just under 19# without pedals - using luggage scale) Ride: Both ride very well for me and feel comparable (flex and spin up) Components: Both mostly Dura Ace so comparable Wheelset: The Colnago has an Aluminum alloy wheelset while the Merckx has a Mavic Carbone aero wheelset (even though the total weight of the Colnago is less). Both spin freely and feel comparable. Fit: This is the deciding factor for me as the Merckx fits me slightly better (and, fit is an individual thing).
